IGHS Student Scholarships Rationale Since one of the missions of IGHS is to increase interest in German language and culture among its younger constituents, the organization will be supporting high school students participating in educational programs in Germany. Applications are accepted from students participating in official programs such as Youth for Understanding (YFU), I.U. Honors Program, or the German American Partnership Program (GAPP).
a) One scholarship/year at $1,000 for a program lasting at least 6 weeks, i.e. I.U. Honors, YFU. b) Two scholarships/year at $500 each for a short-term program, i.e. GAPP program.
Eligibility Criteria Applicants must submit the following: - program description (name, length, location, budget etc.) - statement of purpose - biography - high school transcript ˇ letter of recommendation by German teacher
Additional supporting documents, i.e. secondary support letter, are encouraged.
Selection Criteria - overall academic preparation - seriousness of purpose - achievements in German courses - involvement in extracurricular activities, especially German Club - continuation of German language studies following the program (if applicable) - length of program Students must submit proof of acceptance into the Program before the award is distributed.
Outcome Sponsored students agree to make a presentation to IGHS at a Stammtisch or similar event or write an article for the Newsletter. |
