On Thursday, February 22 the Indiana German Heritage Society will commemorate the day when one hundred years ago the name of the fabulous building in our city constructed by German-Americans was renamed the Athenaeum. This public event will begin at 5:30 PM at the west entrance with the unveiling of a new “Das Deutsche Haus” plaque that is a half-size replica of the original tablet. We will then move inside to the Damenvereinzimmer for a reception with hors d’oeuvres and beverages compliments of the Max Kade German-American Center. The festivities will conclude with a 5-course dinner beginning at 6:30 PM in the Willkie Room that recreates the dinner served a century ago at the Annual Meeting of the Athenaeum. The dinner will consist of vegetable crudité, Consomme Princesse, Liberty Rolls, Fillet of Sole with white wine sauce plus Roast Duck with current jelly, Potato Rissole, Hearts of Lettuce with Thousand Island Dressing, Biscuit Tortoni, Fancy Cakes, and Coffee.
After dinner speakers will be Dr. Giles Hoyt and William L. Selm, emceed by Heinz Roesch.
Tickets for the dinner must be purchased by February 15 and are $50 or $25 for students. You can purchase them on Eventbrite.com. You can also use this URL to locate the tickets for this event: https://tinyurl.com/y7dtcu2a
